You want to make a road trip in the Maghreb. Here are some beautiful circuits to be made in this magnificent region of the sun “Setting”.

Morocco: the most beautiful routes

From Marrakech to Merzouga, you will discover the mountains of the High Atlas and the highest point, the Toubkhal with its snowy peaks; Ait Ben Haddou; Ouarzazate; the road of the thousand kasbahs; the valley of the Roses; the Dades gorges; Tinghir; the Todra gorges; then place in the Erfoud desert; to arrive in Merzouga and discover the magnificent dunes of Erg Chebbi. A nice option also to go from Marrakech to Ouarzazate by a 4×4 raid, passing through Chegaga and Agdez. You will discover: the pass of Tizi N TIchka to the Draa Valley; and Lake Iriqui. The third itinerary, will allow you to visit Morocco on the Atlantic side. Starting from Marrakech to reach Essaouira and its beaches and medina; the beach of Agadir and its Souss-Massa National Park; Tafraout, famous for the manufacture of argan oil and babouches; and finally you will reach the medina of Taroudant.

Algeria: five places to visit on a road trip

First of all, visit La capital, the heart of Algeria. Where its historic district, Casbah (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is located. Take the time to stroll there and discover its characteristic alleys with the philosophy of Islamic art. Then pass through Ghardaïa, a magnificent thousand-year-old oasis with one of the most beautiful markets in Algeria. Continue on to the Roman Ruins of Tipaza located west of Algiers. Ruins between mountains and sea. Then continue on to the mountainous massif of Hoggar, which is located in the heart of the Algerian Sahara. And conclude by discovering Kabylia, a mountainous land in the north of Algeria.

Tunisia: places not to be missed

Pass through Tunis and its medina. You will find the souks (market of carpets, spices and souvenirs…); and take the time to visit the Bardo museum with its collection of Roman mosaics. Twenty kilometres from Tunis, you will discover Carthage. It is an archaeological site that will take you back to the Roman era. Take a break at the oasis of Tozeur, one of the most splendid in Africa. Not far from Carthage, you will discover Sidi Bou Saïd. A village characterized by its white houses with blue shutters and doors. And don’t miss Matmata, a mountain village famous for its troglodyte houses.
